I am looking for at new motherboard, CPU and memory for my mythdora HTPC.
After Intel dumped the prices I’m hooked on a
Intel Pentium 4 3.2 GHz / 16 KB L1 Cache / 800 MHz , but when it comes to motherboard and memory I don't know what to go for.
Does anybody have some experience and suggestions on which to choose? I have a sound card, video card, tuner and an ATA hard disk.
I am looking for stability, low noise and hopefully to be able to control the temperature.
Hope somebody can help me

Since we're on the topic of motherboards. Any suggestions on the XPC Shuttles? I'm thinking of getting one in the near future for it's small size and good cooling management.

They are probably even cheaper if you are in the US.

Actually I don’t care weather it say Intel or AMD as long as it’s running stable.

I like to be prepared for HD TV, but I don’t want to have a super gigantic computer if it’s not necessary. It’s just a HTPC… AMD Athlon 64 3500+ is about 115.49US$ (I am from Denmark).

As dennis said, 64bit really isnt worth the effort for a HTPC at the moment. This isnt a major issue though, because all of Intel's and AMD's 64bit cpu's still support 32 bit operating systems. I have two AMD dual core systems running on 32 bit operating systems, and they run fine (and it will be the same with any of the Intel chips too).

Depending on whether you want to go dual core or single core, here is what I would recommend:
Dual Core:
Go for the AMD system I listed in my last post
Single Core:
Go for a pentium 4 system which is atleast 3.2ghz (I am suggesting Intel here because hyperthreading seems to help with stability on single core HTPC's)
As I said in my last post, you could go with the new Intel Core2Duo oer CoreSolo, but the motherboards are expensive, and the hardware is new, so chances are that you will run into problems when you try to get mythdora running. With Linux, I find its best to purchase hardware that is atleast 6 months old.
