Hi,

I just bought an Hauppauge HD-PVR, thinking it was simple to install it I choose mythdora.
According to the instruction of mythtv wiki no compilation are necessary on mythdora.

My problem is that the HD-PVR not seem to be installed succesfully :
- I just install the 12.23 release
- I use modprobe in order to load the module
- I plug the HP-PVR usb
- I check dmesg, the HD-PVR is recognize but not linked to a directory etc/video#
So the command "cat /dev/video1 > test.ts" crash (directory doesn't exist)

Did I miss anything ?

Help will be appreciate, thanks

Hauppauge HD-PVR no /dev/video0

Hi,

The mythtv wiki was updated.
I have to compile the driver because I get a very new device "PRODUCT_ID 0x4903".

I follow the compilation instruction but I got the following error :
make
make -C /home/mythtv/v4l-dvb/v4l
Updating/Creating .config
Preparing to compile for kernel version 2.6.32
File not found: /lib/modules/2.6.32.11-99.fc12.i686/build/.config at ./scripts/make_kconfig.pl line 32, line 4.
make: *** [all] Erreur 2

here my dmesg :
usb 1-1: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 3
usb 1-1: New USB device found, idVendor=2040, idProduct=4903
usb 1-1: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3
usb 1-1: Product: Hauppauge HD PVR
usb 1-1: Manufacturer: AMBA
usb 1-1: SerialNumber: 00A4C25D
usb 1-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice

Any idea for help ?

What does dmesg show? From

What does dmesg show?

From the wiki:

"If dmesg shows "wrong firmware version," and "device init failed," then you did not install the device in Windows first and the firmware has not been loaded. Install the HD-PVR on a windows machine, install the drivers, and after that the device should work fine in Linux. "

Print results of ls /dev/video* -alh

What does dmesg show? From

Result of ls /dev/video* -alh is "no directory"

On compile, sounds like you

On compile, sounds like you don't have the kernel source with that missing file?

for the directory listing it sounds like driver or module not getting loaded; futhermore, it's not creating the directories or devices during boot.

Sorry I cannot help much more, maybe try going to the mythtv-users list. view only is at http://gossamer-threads.com/lists/mythtv.
