I have just installed MythDora v1.4.1. When I try to exit to FC3 it ask for username and password. I don't remember seting up one on install. Is there a default password??
I need to set up Lirc and ALSA.
Thanks....Mel

Exit Myth, select session and
Exit Myth, select session and select WindowsMaker, then login using root and mythtv:
At this point follow the steps below:
> 1. In a XTERM Session, type apt-get update
> 2. In a XTERM Session, type apt-get install synaptic
> 3. In a XTERM Session, type synaptic
> 4. In synaptic, search for kdebase, select and apply.
Exit out of Windowsmaker and select KDE from the session menu and login using the same username and password.
> This seems to do the trick without alot of heartache.
Root Password
Can log in just fine as mythtv:mythtv but nothing I try works for root, hence I can't take these steps.
thought?
If you did an Auto the passwd
If you did an Auto the passwd will be mythtv, if you did a custom it will be whatever you gave it.

Hmmm odd. I don't remember it
Hmmm odd. I don't remember it doing that. But the user is root and passwd is mythtv. Let me know what you think of MythDora.
Edit - Why do you need to set up Lirc and Alsa?

root and mythv worked one time to get to the Mythtv Setup.
I need to get to FC3 KDE or where I can Modify modconf files and set up my audio card and IR Blaster.
Thanks...Mel
There is no KDE in MythDora.
There is no KDE in MythDora. Only window managers. What I do is exit out of frontend and when you get to the blue mushrooms, I love that background, choose session at the top. Then I use Window Maker. Then type in mythtv, mythtv and your in an X session. Right click for an xterm.

It has been a while since I used Linux or Myth, is it possible to add KDE to your program. It would make it much more user friendly for me to use with myth since I am very familiar with it.
Thanks...Mel
I was actually talking with m
I was actually talking with my father this morning about that very thing. He runs Free BSD which comes with a KDE Lite. Unfortunatley I dont believe there is anything for Fedora along those lines. The reason I don't add KDE is that it is very large with all its dependencies and keeping things low to fit on a CD are important. One thing that you could try is to apt-get install kde. Of course the sources list would need to be changed. Let me do some testing on this and see how things workout and I'll get back with my findings and post them.

MythDora
since I am not that familiar with linux using command lines, I have abandoned MythDora for now and I am Using Jerrod's guide to install Myth.
I feel you have developed a great product that will work for a large number for people.
My system however requires more indepth setup requirements and it is easier to troubleshoot using jerrod's guide and KDE.
Since a great number of people are familiar with Jerrrods installaton guide using KDE,I think it would be great if you could incorporate Kde into your system.
I realize that it would mean going to a two disk installation or perhaps a DVD disk with the KDE package for those who wanted KDE.
Anyway just my thoughts. I would love to use your install with KDE.
Many thanks for your help and quick response
Well please don't abandon it
Well please don't abandon it yet. Spencer has just announced a KDE install. He says it works fine for him. Let us know how it turns out. And thank you for the compliments.
