Hmmm, interesting little device. I just may have to include this as I did the Media MVP. This should be fairly easy to include. Thanks for the hint.

Edit- After looking at this further, I don't think this will work. I'm having nothing but problems with the tveeprom. This is documented very well at their site. ivtv and dvb have a hard enough time with tveeprom without this. If you or anyone else figures it out, please let me know.

You are correct, there isn't

You are correct, there isn't very much in the way of info or help on this especially if you run into trouble like I did. It wasn't that I couldn't get it to compile, that worked fine, it's just that the tveeprom is giving me fits which is in limbo right now between ivtv and v4l. MythDora seems to be looking good on this as far as a PVR or pcHDTV(DVB) card goes. But when I throw this hacked driver into the mix things get screwy. This card needs a special tveeprom.ko which I obviously don't have and if I did then I run the risk of either the PVR or pcHDTV puking. I think this will have to wait on either a better driver or see what ivtv and v4l are gonna do about the tveeprom. And this is what I used which is the better developed driver.

After doing some more

After doing some more research on this, it really looks like the v4l drivers are the cause of things to not work correctly. So in order for me to try and get this USB2 card to work, which I'de like to do, the v4l drivers CANNOT be installed in MythDora. These drivers automatically get installed when doing an auto install but if you chose a custom install and don't install them then getting this card to work just might be possible. But you would HAVE to do a custom install in order for this to work. From what I can tell no one is using this USB2 card along with DVB which I can understand completely but I could be wrong also. Let me see what I can come up with.

Any updates on this? I'll

Any updates on this? I'll try the custom without v4l. But isn't it a little strange that oyu can choose USB2 in the installation prcess, and it still won't work?

It works. The driver is

It works. The driver is built into the kernel now. This card is not in the menu of cards to choose. You'll need to set it up yourself.

Set up where?

Thanks for the answer. so i choose "no tv card at this time" and then MythTv should find it?

Many pardons. I keep getting

Many pardons. I keep getting this card confused with the Plextor-402U. The PVR-USB2 is in the menu. Just choose option 10 I believe and the module should load fine. If not then get to an xterm and manually load the pvr-usb2 module to see if you get any errors.

is this supported now?

Hi, can somebody update me on how well the WinTV PVR USB2 is supported with MythDora 4.0?

This is the device:

http://www.hauppauge.com/pages/products/data_pvrusb2.html

It would be great if it is supported now because that frees up a PCI slot in my cramped mATX setup!

Thanks!

The PVR-USB2 is well supported and actively maintained

Not only is it supported but in my experience it provides the highest visual quality S-capture out of a DirecTV box that I have been able to find (better than the Plextor-402U which was better than the hauppauge PCI ivtv cards which were much better than the analogue capture on the HD-5500). I just love the box.

Also note that Mike Isely is actively developing the pvrusb2 kernel driver and the new one fixes some quirks present in the version included in Mythdora 4. I'm running his newest .ko compiled against the stock MD4 kernel headers in an otherwise stock MD4 kernel.

The quirks:

which actually did manifest again, but not after I did an sudo rmmod pvrusb2 / depmod pvrusb2

This has been supported for

This has been supported for a while now.
